Portfolio description

I chose to play it safe with my portfolio, and only invest with the strongest cryptocurrencies with the most use cases. Bitcoin was an obvious first choice. It is universally accepted, and if there is any coin that might be used for buying something online, or purchasing another crypto, it is Bitcoin. It is also the one that leads all altcoins, and the one that grows strongest.

Apart from BTC, which takes half of the total investment — I also invested 20% into Ethereum. ETH is the second-largest (and most important) coin. However, while it is unlikely that Bitcoin will ever be replaced, many do expect that it happens to ETH. Ethereum killer is already expected to emerge from one of the current development platform-type projects, which is why ETH only gets 20%. I believe it is still the leading platform, but it might not be forever.

Finally, I have decided to invest 15% into BCH and LTC each. The two are the most well-known and well-accepted coins apart from BTC and ETH themselves. They are listed on most exchanges, they are sought after, and they are easy to sell should the opportunity arises. I believe that Bitcoin and these three altcoins have the best chance to survive in the crypto market, and deliver a great profit, especially in the long term. And, even if Ethereum does get overthrown by another project, it is not going to just go away, as its network would remain extremely useful and popular.

The 60-day correlation between Bitcoin and gold hit record highs above 0.5, according to data from Coin Metrics. The correlation of the two assets has been skyrocketing since July, while the US dollar has declined against other major currencies. The fall of the dollar, which enjoys the status of the world's reserve currency, is positively reflected in limited emission assets such as gold and bitcoin.

Investors should keep a close eye on the gold market and US government bond yields as these factors can affect the price of Bitcoin and Ether.

I could label this portfolio as a sure one. Needless to say that Bitcoin must constitute a significant part of any crypto portfolio since it currently represents the best store of value, apart from the physical gold. Litecoin just went past the halving and dipped a bit, but all indications are that LTC will reach $200 by the end of the year. Therefore, I think that the portfolio ratio should have been tipped in the favor of Litecoin because Litecoin Foundation has been very active this year, having secured multiple partnership deals, which will ultimately affect the price in a positive way.

In one of his recent interviews, Vitalik Buterin admitted that Ethereum is about to face serious scalability issues which haven't been resolved for quite some time. Therefore, I wouldn't consider ETH as a good short term (less than a year) investment - it won't show the desired gains any time soon. Perhaps the release of Ethereum 2.0 will change a lot of things and even propel ETH to the number 1 spot, but it won't happen any time soon. Bitcoin and Litecoin are solid, nothing more to add here. BCH is a doubtful option, I would have rather went with Binance Coin.
